I stitch because I'm compelled to, it's in my blood. I inherited my passion for needlecrafts, growing up surrounded by embroidery threads, knitting and crochet paraphernalia, balls of wool, metres of fabric and sewing machines. I confess that the smell of a fabric shop or haberdashery does it for me more than any other retail experience.
My style is contemporary and ecclectic. I create surface embroidery designs by drawing on a variety of needlework techniques, including crewelwork, mountmellick, appliqué and anything else that catches my eye. I enjoy experimenting with stitches and that adds to the uniqueness of my designs.
You'll find my embroidery and appliqué patterns, as well as my hand embroidery publication The Stitch and Thimble in the online shop on my website, www.kellyfletcher.co.uk.
