Embroidered Home: My book is out!

It took about 160 skeins of thread, around 560 hours of hand embroidery, more than 450 hours of cutting, ironing, tracing on and sewing, and countless more of designing and writing to complete Embroidered Home. But my book is finally here, on shelves and ready for you to get stitching! (Embroiderers in South Africa, you’re going to have to wait another month to get your hands on a copy locally.)

Themed chapters offer projects to suit various home decorating styles – from contemporary to bold Scandi-inspired, floral to modern country, coastal to vintage – ending with a festive chapter for seasonal decorating.

There are more than 35 different items to make: cushion covers, placemats, a quilted throw, apron, tablet and e-reader covers, a gardening tool roll, cosmetic bag, Christmas stocking and star garland, a beach bag, embroidered wall art... and a fair bit more.

The sewing instructions are given in full and there are extra embroidery designs at the end of each chapter so you can modify the projects to suit your taste.

Embroidered Home is packed with projects and designs, making it really good value for money. And although the items are centred on the home, they make great gifts and items with which to spoil yourself, too.

Of course, many thanks must go to editor Tara O'Sullivan, photographer Vanessa Davies (who also owns Hoop Haberdashery in Kent, UK), stylist Polly Webb-Wilson and layout designer Heidi Baker for all their hard hands-on work, as well as the rest of the team from Kyle Books involved in putting Embroidered Home together. It’s no mean feat to create a book and couldn’t have been done without the help of many.

For more tasters of what’s inside the book, go to the Kyle Books or Amazon UK websites for previews of additional pages. And if Embroidered Home appeals to you, it's available to order online or you can get hold of a copy in-store at all major booksellers.

Jelly, you are awesome. Sadly I can't sew but if I could, your book would be great to buy. I'm sure it will sell well.

Kelly...I can't believe I called you Jelly in error ( should have gone to Specsavers) Didn't have my glasses on. Apologies.

Thanks so much everyone - all the hard work was worth it in the end. (Haha Ginge, autocorrect likely got the better of you.)

Kelly your book looks beautiful! I so love your designs! Congratulations on such an undertaking! Do you know if there are any stores in Canada, specifically Toronto, On that will carry it. I'm happy to buy it online but amazon says it will be between November 6 and December 10 before it will be delivered. Don't want to wait!!

Thanks again, everyone. Glad you like the look of Embroidered Home.
Terri, I'm not sure where else you'd find it in Toronto. I do know that it's going to take about two months all in all for the book to arrive in all four corners of the world, eg it'll only be on the shelves in South Africa in December. Sorry about the wait...
