The new issue of one of the world’s best-loved embroidery magazines is out. Issue 76 of Inspirations will be on a shelf near you soon – sooner if you live in Australia, not quite as soon if you live in Africa. But it’s out nonetheless and features my embroidered appliqué cushion, rather appropriately titled Fever Tree.
It’s also been chosen as the project from this issue for the magazine’s newly launched online stitch-along on Flickr. The idea is for readers who want to stitch the cushion to get online and discuss and post photos of their progress as part of the Stitching Inspirations community. It’s really easy to sign up and the lovely Ellaine from Inspirations/Country Bumpkin Publications both runs the group and takes part. Ellaine and I will be following your progress with interest and be on hand should you have any comments or questions.
This is a great project for a stitch-along as it features a host of different stitches without being overwhelming, and of course you get to choose whatever fabric tickles your fancy for the appliqué. It won’t take you an age to make, either. And if you enjoy it, you could make a whole lot in different colourways.
The best news though, I’ve saved for last… We’re giving away two copies of issue 76 of Inspirations right here on this blog. All you have to do is comment on this post by midnight on Sunday, 9 December (South Africa Standard Time, so GMT+2) and promise to check out the Stitching Inspirations Flickr group. I’ll draw two names, ask the winners to email me postal addresses and Ellaine will send your magazine to you from Australia - a truly global giveaway.
So get stitching and good luck!
