Fleur reincarnated

Remember these? Well, I finally got around to drawing up patterns for the embroidered versions of my Fleur designs and they’re available for sale here.

I incorporated a bit of appliqué to keep the designs true and added padded areas for interest, raising mostly the centres of the blooms. If you haven’t attempted padding with felt, you really should. It’s easy and fun to do, and adds a nifty 3D element to your work (without you having to wear the dodgy specs). I've also used a couple of beads here and there, as well as metallic thread to add some texture and shimmer.

I aim to frame mine eventually, but they’d look equally good incorporated into a quilt top – perhaps combined with the bigger, appliqué-only versions. You could stitch them on to little girls’ clothing or bedding, or use them to brighten up a plain tote bag. Anything, really. And they’re a good way to use up any small scraps of favourite fabric left over from bigger projects.

Hi Kelly, thanks for commenting on my blog. I couldn't see another way to reply so came across for a visit. I love these flowers, they're very pretty. Simple but eye-catching!
